personal-pan-pizza

Friday Afternoon Job Procrastination Blog Post,
I dont know if you guys are familiar with that acronym? All the kids are using it these days. You all should give it a try.

Anyways, Im in Boston working at the health center still. My main project is signing kids up for summer camps -- lots of applications. Ive also gotten to the point where I can do it in spanish, which is cool. Que es su direccion?

This summer I'll be doing some outdoor edu. with teens from Boston. We're going hiking in Vermont for a week. Other than that I'll be chillin on my porch and maybe sailing on the Charles River. Then Im hoping to stay in Boston through the fall but that is contingent upon locking down this job.

also I watched the boston marathon on monday. One guys nipples got rubbed off and he had personal-pan-pizza size blood stains on the front of his shirt. True story.

Finally Emerging from What they Call "Reading Season"

Hey Guys,

So following Dan's lead, I'm gonna try to get this blog going again and update you all on what I've been up to...

So the last few months have been pretty crazy, as it's been reading season. I read something like 700 applications from mid-January to early March. And while I thought it would be pretty easy, it was actually pretty labor intensive and a ton of work. We spent a lot of nights and weekends at the office trying to mold the class of 2013, so it should be an awesome class, haha. To try and get some good PR, communications made a video that documents our process. You guys can check it our here (notice who they select to be the first person speaking, and thus representing Brandeis):

Beyond work, I haven't been up to much. I've been finding some cool bars with cheap beer. Emily and I even found a place where you can get a 32 ounce draft beer for $6.25, and it's good beer like Sam Adams or Magic Hat, so that's our new go-to. Although it's not quite as gratifying as winning a beer at Nikkita's "flip it to win it." The weather's starting to get nicer up here and I can't wait for spring/summer. Hope all is going well with you guys.

Squash Nationals

Hey guys,
Last weekend the squash season ended with the national tournament at Princeton. I thought this was my chance to get some snow for the first time this winter, but no. It rained! In the middle of February!

For the entire season up to two weeks before the tournament we were ranked 46 in the country, but we surged up to 40 by the time nationals came around. At nationals we lost to MIT but then beat Columbia and Haverford to end the season with a #37 national ranking. It was a lot of fun, and we got to see the best players in the country.

I was hoping I would see a lot of you guys on my only trip to the east coast until this summer, but I didn't see any friends. I guess you guys will just have to make a trip out to California. Here's some enticement: while you guys got a snowstorm yesterday it was colder than average at 61 degrees here.

Three Steps to a Delicious Dish

Hey everybody,

Reporting from Leadville CO. I just biked 30 minutes into town to this nice little coffee shop where they have legit scones and free wireless. I have 7 more days in the front country until we head back into the mountains for our second expedition. The plan is to do 5 days of trail work (digging, breaking rock, blazing trail) then hiking for the last 5. Should be a sweet deal.

Here is a recipie I picked up on my first expedition.

Step 1: find a nice fishing spot in a high alpine lake.
This one is in the San Juan montains. Its called Lost Lake.

Step 2: Catch a nice fish. This is a Colorado Brook Trout.
Step 3: Fry with garlic and butter. enjoy.

I may be in Boston for Thanksgiving. Are any of you going to be around?

How's Aboot That?

So right now, I find myself in that place that really made our senior year special. The country that is always a punchline. That's right...CANADA!!!!!

I'm in Toronto right now on behalf of Brandeis, visiting high schools and trying to get Canadians to apply. The hotel I'm staying at is super nice. It's basically a studio apartment with a flat-screen and my own kitchen. And the view from my window is the CN Tower (as pictured).

Best of all, I'm actually watching the Patriots game right now. It seems they are semi-civilized here.

It's the beginning of my travel season and I'll also be going to Seattle, Miami, and Boca Raton in the next month and a half. I'll be sure to update you on what I'm up to. Anyways, I think I'm gonna find a place to order delivery from and that has buffalo chicken tenders. And of course, put it on my company card. I hope all is well with you guys. And Hannah, I'll say hi to your family if I happen to run into them, haha.
